There is nothing better than cuddling up with a good book. Books essentially offer solitude and a temporary exit from your own story. They are mostly magical. Avid readers usually have a long history of books that often begin either started in the womb or soon after – thanks to parents and their constant desire to enrich your brain. Therefore it is not surprising that you (and many others) are happy when reading.

  • Although you can be a full-time reading pro and know all about all the books that you have ever read, you probably do not know everything about real books. Did you know that there are more than 129 million books, and the most expensive book ever bought, is sold for $30.8 million.
  • The largest “book” in the world is located in Manday, Myanmar, Burma, at the Kuthodaw Pagoda. The Kuthodaw Pagoda contains a collection of 730 marble tablets that surround the structure of its two-sided text. The collected tablets contain the complete scripture of the Theravāda Buddhism..
  • The largest book published in the traditional way is the Brazilian copy of the “Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupery (who is also a pioneer of the aviation world). It measures a width of 3.08 meters (open) and a height of 2.01 meters. It was featured to the Biannual Book Fair in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in September 2007.
  • The longest audiobook in the world is almost five days long. It was published in Japan in 2008 and consists of lectures by Yokimoto, philosopher, poet and literary critic. The total running time is 115 hours, 43 minutes.
  • In June 2017, the Argentinean art icon, Marta Minujin, created the large Parthenon, consisting of forbidden books, plastic sheaths and metal grills. But instead of building it in the Acropolis in Athens, Minnie built it in a historical Nazi book on the mountains in Central Germany. The “Banned Book Parthenon” consisted of 100,000 copies of 170 titles.
  • The best-selling and most readable book in the world is still the Bible (Gideons International might have helped make this happen).
