In addition to England, the host country, the national teams that occupied the other first seven positions in the ICC ODI Team Rankings on the date of 30 September 2017 take part in the tournament; the remaining two places are occupied by the teams that won the qualifying tournament held in 2018. The ICC ODI Team Rankings was attended by not only the 10 full members of the ICC (England, South Africa, India, Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the British West Indies, Bangladesh, New Zealand and Zimbabwe), but also Ireland and Afghanistan.
