Land Rover is a UK-based brand primarily producing four-wheeled SUVs owned by the multinational automaker Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), a subsidiary of India’s Tata Motors. JLR currently manufactures Land Rover in Brazil, China, India, Slovakia and the UK. The Land Rover name was created in 1948 by Rover for a good all-wheel-drive SUV; however, today’s Land Rover vehicles include extremely luxurious and luxurious sports cars.

Land Rover received a Royal Warrant from King George VI in 1951, and 50 years later, in 2001, it received the Queen’s Entrepreneurship Award for outstanding contribution to international trade. Over time, Land Rover developed into its brand (and for a time a company), encompassing an ever-growing range of four-wheeled and off-road models. Starting with the much more luxurious 1970 Range Rover and subsequent versions of the mid-range Discovery line and the Tier 1 Freelander line (1989 and 1997) and the 1990 Land Rover Defender update, today’s brand includes two Discovery models, four separate Range Rovers. After a three-year hiatus, the second-generation Defender’s production for the 2020 model began with a short or long wheelbase as before.

For half a century (from the original model from 1948 to 1997, when the Freelander was introduced) Land Rovers and Range Rovers relied heavily on their box-frame brands. Land Rover used boxes from the direct product bloodline of the product until production of the original Defender was discontinued in 2016. Their latest body on a frame was replaced by a monocoque from the third generation Discovery in 2017. Since then, all Land Rovers and Range Rovers have had the same body and frame design.
Since 2010, Land Rover has also introduced two-wheel drive options for the Freelander and Evoque, after manufacturing exclusively four-wheel-drive vehicles for 62 years. The 2WD Freelander is inherited from the 2WD Discovery Sport available in some markets.
