While most cosmetic kits come with mini makeup brushes, it’s rather helpful to have a good set of personalized makeup brushes instead. Small brushes are placed in compact blush, and eye shadows often do not last long or apply makeup well. Buying a set of makeup brushes is a good investment that shouldn’t be too expensive.

When choosing makeup brushes, you should look for several different types of brushes. Firstly, you will want to look a large powder brush. These brushes have a large round surface with thick, soft bristles and are best used to apply face powder evenly. Powder brushes can be used as a bronzer, but they should not be confused with a slightly smaller counterpart – the blush brush. Blush brush is the perfect size to apply blush to just the right sides of the face. Using a powder brush can often lead to a lack of control over where the color goes. Using a blush brush will give the definition and coverage that you are looking for.

The majority of makeup brushes are used for the eyes. You should look for a basic eye-shadow brush, usually just a small square of bristles, to apply color throughout the eyelid and beyond. However, if you plan to use various effects of eye makeup, it will also be helpful for you to choose a corner brush to gently apply mascara to the crease and the outer corner. The fine-tip brush is well suited for adding eyeliner or a line of dark eye shadows directly to the lash line for an exceptional effect.

Finally, there are lip brushes. These brushes usually have fine tips and very strong bristles. They are used to apply lip liner, lip gloss, or lipstick. Because of the makeup being applied with lip brushes, you may need to wash them more frequently than other types of makeup brushes.

Look for brushes made from natural fibers that will not irritate your skin or break easily. Wash your makeup brushes in warm, sudsy water every few weeks to remove any build up of makeup or dead skin cells. Keep makeup brushes in a moisture-free clean bag or container and make sure they are not crushed under the layers and layers of makeup products. Finally, if makeup brushes start to wear out, spend a few dollars and buy new ones. Makeup brushes will not break your bank, but will change the way you apply makeup.
