Mermaid is a mythical fantasy creature that is half woman, half fish. The name comes from the “mer”, which means the sea. Mermaid men’s version is called merman.

Although some mermaids were described as monstrous and ugly, they are usually very nice. Above the waist it looks like a beautiful young woman, while from the waist down, they are like a fish with fins and tail.

Mermaids love combing her long hair. In art, they often show a mirror and comb. Sometimes they sit on a rock and sing. Mermaid lure handsome young men in their homes in the deep seas. Mermen, however, tend to be older and uglier than mermaids and have little interest in humans.
