Oscar Gutierrez (born December 11, 1974) is an American professional wrestler who is currently signed to the WWE, where he introduces himself to the Raw brand under the name Rey Mysterio.

Gutierrez was born and raised in Chula Vista, California, and began his professional wrestling career at the age of 14 in 1989, before making his debut with the Mexican promotion Asistencia Asesoría y Administción (AAA) in 1992 under the tutelage of his uncle, Rey Mysterio. In 1995, he briefly participated in the Extreme Wrestling Championship (ECW) before being signed to the World Championship Wrestling (WCW). At WCW, Mysterio helped promote the high flying style of Lucha Libre wrestling, which is said to have also contributed to the emergence of cruiserweight wrestling in the United States. He has also won a number of corporate championships with the company, including the WCW Heavyweight Championship and the WCW World Tag Team Championship. Following the closure of WCW in 2001, Mysterio returned to Mexico, battling briefly for the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), before signing with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2002.

During his time with the company, he has achieved consistent success and is a three-time world champion (once a WWE championship and twice a world heavyweight champion), a two-time intercontinental champion, two-time US champion, four-time tag Team Champion, and a three-time Cruiserweight Champion. He also won the Royal Rumble in 2006 and became the 21st Triple Crown and 21st Grand Slam winner in WWE history, as well as leading several major WWE pay-per-view events. He left the company in 2015 and then wrestled for an independent network before returning to WWE in 2018. According to ESPN, Mysterio is “widely regarded as the largest cruiserweight in pro wrestling history”.

At Bash at the Beach in July, he defeated longtime rival Psicosis in a # 1 challenger match to get another shot at the heavyweight title. The following night, on the July 8 episode of WCW Monday Nitro, he defeated Malenko and won his first cruiseweight championship. He ruled as champion for three months, including defensive titles against the likes of Ultimate Dragon, Malenko and Super Caló, before losing the title to Malenko at Halloween Havoc. After winning the heavyweight championship, Mysterio challenged the Ultimate Dragon for the J-Crown title but lost his title match in World War III in November.

In early 1997, he fell out with Prince Iaukea during the WCW World Television Championship. Mysterio was defeated in a SuperBrawl VII title match after being attacked by Lord Stephen Regal. Mysterio also lost the championship rematch at Uncensored in March. Mysterio soon began a feud with the New World Order (NWO), which ended when he lost a Mexican death match to NWO member konnan at Road Wild in August.
