Rhino commonly known as the rhinoceros is represented by five species living today. They belong to a family of odd-hoofed animals, known as the rhinoceros. Two species are native to Africa and three in South Asia. Rhinoceroses family characterized by great big party, all reaching a weight of about 1 ton or herbivorous habits. They are protected by a tough skin coat with a thickness of about 1-1.5 cm and consists of layers of collagen arranged in a grid structure.
The brain is relatively small in size compared with other mammals, and it carries a hard horn. They prefer to feed on leaves material, and are capable of fermenting the food in their hindgut so can withstand more fibrous plant material, if necessary.
The African species of rhinoceros are lack teeth in the front of the mouth, but they have a well-developed premolars and molars for crushing plant material. They hunt people for their precious horns and are made of keratin. Hair and nails are also made of keratin. And the African and the Sumatran Rhinoceros have two horns, while the Indian and Javan rhinoceros have a single horn. They bear poor eyesight, but have a keen sense of smell and hearing. The average life expectancy is about 60 years or more.
