The snapping turtle is a in North America turtle. There are two different types of turtles. The uniqueness of snapping turtle, Chelydra serpentina, often overlooked, simply because of how plentiful the snapping turtles is. With its huge head, ungainly build, oversized tail, and vicious in nature, it presents a unforgettable picture when you find on the ground. Snapping turtle thoroughly are aquatic animals rarely voluntarily leaving the water except to lay eggs.
The eggs are round and compared with the ping-pong balls. Snapping turtle eggs usually takes about three months to hatch, but there were cases in which babies spent the winter in their eggs and emerged during the spring.
The alligator snapping turtle, Macrochelys lemmincki, is one of the largest freshwater turtles in existence. Fully grown specimen may have a shell length of two feet and weigh 200 pounds.
In the wild, snapping turtles are found from southern Canada to Florida and alligator snapping turtles are found in the southern United States.
