A tourist bus is a bus that takes visitors to places of interest with routes around tourist attractions.

Usually double-decker buses and open top buses are used to provide good visibility. Large buses are used internationally by tour operators, intercity buses and charters for short and long routes. These buses are larger than regular transit buses with 2–4 axles (6 to 10 wheels).

The history of tourist buses in North America began at the beginning of the 20th century, when trucks were transformed to provide sightseeing opportunities in major American cities. Gray Line, the largest tour operator, began operations in 1910. Attractions are probably a side business for many intercity bus operators as they use the same types of buses (this remains true to this day). During World War II, the industry fell into decay, but gradually became an alternative to driving.

Many musicians, artists, dance groups and groups travel on sleeping buses, which are commonly called “tourist buses.” Although most, if not all of the buses listed above are for commercial use, there are many wagons intended for personal use as motorhomes. These bus-based mobile homes are considered the high end of the RV market.
