Wild turkeys can fly at speeds up to 60 miles per hour, but only over relatively short distances. Most domestic turkeys, however, can not fly out of the selectively bred to be larger than it would be useful in the wild.
They have excellent vision, they see three times more clearly than 20/20. Turkeys can also see in color and have a 270 degree field of view.
Turkeys are the named after the country. Linguists suggest that early Europeans resembled the African guinea fowl, came to Europe via Turkey and the similarity led to its name.
Turkey is one of the most popular birds in North America. In fact, Benjamin Franklin wanted to make the wild turkey, not the Bald Eagle, the national bird of the United States!
