World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness about the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and ill-treatment of those who died from the disease. World AIDS Day is one of the eight global public health campaigns of the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as World Health Day, World Blood Donor Day, World Immunization Day, World Tuberculosis Day, and World Hepatitis Day.

World AIDS Day is seen as a day of learning about AIDS, sharing knowledge and prevention to millions of people.

Health education was provided to practitioners who are constantly engage with AIDS patients. The importance of careful disposal of contaminated body fluids such as blood, sperm, vaginal discharge, amniotic, peritoneal and pleural fluid was emphasized, and strict compliance with standard disposal measures were advocated to them.
