7 (seven) is a number, a digit and a symbol representing a number. This is a natural number that follows 6 and precedes 8. It is an integer and the cardinal number, ie the number that is used for counting. In addition, it is classified as a real number, which distinguishes it from imaginary numbers.

At first, various Hindus wrote 7 more or less with one stroke similar to a curve reminiscent of the main J with the upside down. The main contribution of the western Ghubar Arabs is to make the longer line diagonal than straight, although they showed some tendencies in order to make the character more understandable. The eastern Arabs developed a hexagon-type character in the uppercase V-look-alike. Two modern Arab forms influenced the European form, a two-character symbol consisting of a horizontal upper line connected to the right of the line descending to the lower left corner, a line slightly curved in some font variants.

Some people, especially in Europe and Latin America, write 7 with one line in the middle and make the top line crooked. The line in the middle is useful for clearly distinguishing the character from number one, because they can look similar when they are written in certain styles of handwriting.

The 7-sided shape is a heptagon. Regular n-gons for n ≤ 6 can be constructed only with the help of a compass and ruler, but a common heptagon cannot. The figures denoting heptagons (including seven) are called heptagonal numbers. Seven is also a centered hexagonal number.

There are seven frieze groups consisting of flat symmetries, the plane of which is isomorphic to the group of numbers.
