French former professional football player Blaise Matuidi (born 9 April 1987) played as a midfielder. He is most known for having represented France and Paris Saint-Germain as well as Juventus.

In the Île-de-France region, Matuidi started his football career by playing for amateur teams like US Fontenay-sous-Bois and CO Vincennois. In 1999, he was selected to attend the prestigious Clairefontaine academy. Following his departure from Clairefontaine, Matuidi joined the Créteil semi-pro team and spent three years honing his skills at the team’s junior academy. He joined the Troyes professional team in 2004 and made his debut there in the 2004″05 season. Matuidi joined Saint-Étienne after playing for Troyes for three seasons.

He played his first game of European football with Saint-Étienne after competing in the 2008-09 UEFA Cup. He received manager Alain Perrin’s first-choice captaincy for the 2009″10 campaign. After four seasons with Saint-Étienne, Matuidi signed a three-year contract to join Paris Saint-Germain in July 2011.

During his tenure with the team, he earned sixteen domestic victories, including four straight Ligue 1 titles. In 2017, he signed with Juventus of Italy, where he won a domestic double in his first season, two more league wins in a row during the ensuing two seasons, as well as the 2018 Supercoppa Italiana. In the summer of 2020, he signed with Inter Miami of Major League Soccer.

Former France youth international Matuidi competed for his country at the under-19 and under-21 levels. Matuidi received his first call-up to the senior squad in August 2010 under new manager Laurent Blanc. He played for his country in two FIFA World Cups and two UEFA European Football Championships after making his debut for his country against Bosnia and Herzegovina in a UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying match in September 2010. He was awarded a runners-up medal at the Euro 2016 and a winner’s medal at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Faria Rivelino, an Angolan father, and Élise, a Congolese mother, were the parents of Matuidi when he was born in Toulouse, Haute-Garonne. Rivelino moved to France when he was a young man.

Matuidi, who also has four additional siblings, was raised in the Fontenay-sous-Bois neighborhood of Paris. While following Paris Saint-Germain, he developed an interest in football and developed an admiration for former PSG forward Jay-Jay Okocha.

Personal Life

By composing the song “Matuidi Charo (PSG)” and the dance of the Charo, dance of the vulture, which was later made popular on football fields by Matuidi, rapper Niska paid homage to Matuidi.

He published his autobiography, “Au bout de mes rêves,” co-written with Ludovic Pinton, in May 2016.

For his efforts with his organization Tremplin Blaise Matuidi, which aids in the reintegration of youngsters from the suburbs, he was named champion of the year and champion for peace by the organization Peace and Sport in 2018.
