Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao (born March 3, 1997) is a Cuban-American singer and songwriter. She rose to prominence as a member of the X Factor USA girl group Fifth Harmony in 2012, signing a joint recording contract with Syco Music and Epic Records. While in Fifth Harmony, Cabello began to establish herself as a solo artist, releasing collaborations “I Know What You Did Last Summer” with Shawn Mendes and “Bad Things” with Machine Gun Kelly, the latter reaching number four on the US Billboard Hot 100. After leaving the group. In late 2016, Cabello released several other collaborations, including “Hey Ma” by Pitbull and J Balvin for the soundtrack “The Fate of the Furious” and her debut solo single, “Crying in the Club”.

Cabello’s debut studio album, Camila (2018), peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. A pop album featuring Latin music was well received by critics and certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Its lead single “Havana” topped the charts in several countries, including the US and UK, and the follow-up single “Never Be the Same” entered the top 10 in many countries. Cabello’s duet with Mendes, Senorita, became her second single to top the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019. Her second studio album, Romance (2019), peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 chart and number one in Canada. Cabello will star in the upcoming film adaptation of Cinderella (2021) for Sony Pictures.

Cabello has amassed billions of streams on music platforms. It became the best-selling digital single of 2018 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). Cabello has received numerous awards throughout her career, including two Latin Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and one Billboard Music Award. She has also received three Grammy Award nominations.

Cabello was born in Havana, Cuba in Sinuhe Estrabao and Alejandro Cabello, and grew up in the city of Cojímar in the east of Havana. Her father was born in Mexico City, Mexican, moved to Cuba. She has a younger sister named Sofia. Cabello and her family moved from Havana to Mexico City back and forth for much of her early life. When Cabello was five years old, she moved with her mother to Miami, Florida, USA; her father did not receive a visa at the time and joined the family about 18 months later. Cabello received American citizenship in 2008. She attended high school in Miami-Palmeto, but left in the 2012-2013 school year in 9th grade to pursue her singing career. She later received her high school diploma.
