Candice Susan Swanepoel is a philanthropist and model from South Africa. Her work with Victoria’s Secret is well-known. In 2010, she was named a Victoria’s Secret Angel, and she is currently under contract with the company. She was ranked 8th on Forbes’ list of the highest-paid models in 2016.

Swanepoel was born in Mooi River, South Africa, to Willem Swanepoel and Eileen Swanepoel (née Green). Swanepoel is descended from a Dutch Afrikaner family. Her mother is from South Africa, while her father is from Mutare, Zimbabwe. Stephen, her older brother, is her only sibling. Candice used to be a ballet dancer when she was little. Swanepoel went to St. Anne’s Diocesan College in the nearby town of Hilton for boarding education. She was discovered by a model scout in a Durban flea market when she was 15 years old.

Swanepoel has appeared in editorials for American, Italian, British, Spanish, German, Greek, Russian, Australian, Brazilian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Mexican Vogue; British, South African, Romanian, Mexican, and Chinese GQ; American, Spanish, Czech, Argentine, Turkish, and Korean Harper’s Bazaar; V, Allure, W, and i-D.

Since 2007, she has modeled for Tom Ford, Oscar De La Renta, Givenchy, Miu Miu, Tommy Hilfiger, Rag & Bone, Ralph Lauren, Shiatzy Chen, Michael Kors, Blumarine, Versace, Prabal Gurung, Diesel, Guess?, Swarovski, Agua Bendita, Colcci, True Religion, Nike, Juicy Couture, and Victoria’s Secret in advertising campaigns for Tom Ford, Oscar De La Renta, Givenchy, Miu Miu She was a featured model in the 2010 “SWIM” collection, with Lindsay Ellingson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Behati Prinsloo, and Erin Heatherton, in addition to starring in the lingerie brand’s advertisements.

Swanepoel was named a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2010. Swanepoel was a model for the Kardashians’ swimsuit collection in 2010. Swanepoel established the first Victoria’s Secret retail store in Canada on August 12, 2010, in West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton. Swanepoel was selected the cover model of Victoria’s Secret’s coveted Swim Catalogue in 2013.

Swanepoel was chosen to model Victoria’s Secret’s “Fantasy Bra” for the 2013 Fashion Show. Mouawad designed the ten-million-dollar bra, called the “Royal Fantasy Bra.” Over 4,200 precious jewels, including rubies, diamonds, and yellow sapphires, were placed in 18 carat gold with a 52-carat ruby in the bra’s center and its matching belt.
