Wedding Confetti

The tradition of throwing confetti over the heads of the bride and groom the new wedding couple as they emerge from church has its roots far in the past. Many years ago, the couple threw food as superstitious ritual to ensure the prosperity and fertility in marriage. In some areas, little flat cakes were thrown to others, and in Indian wedding only bride throw wheat or rice. In Italy, sugar-coated almonds or grains, known as confetti were thrown at carnivals and weddings, as well as a symbol of fertility and prosperity, and eventually transferred the name to what we know today, like confetti.

Recently grains were replaced by colored paper confetti, prettier and less wasteful than throwing grains, but the tradition continues to be popular, though, and superstitions associated with throwing confetti and it’s just seen as part of a traditional wedding ceremony.

Today you can buy an infinite variety of confetti for table decorations at weddings and other celebrations. They include all forms shiny metallic confetti and custom printed confetti where couples names can be printed.

You can even get photographic portraits of confetti and have the bride and groom smiling in miniature scattering of confetti on the table.
