Dane DeHaan (born February 6, 1986) is an American actor. His roles include Andrew Detmer of Chronicle (2012), Harry Osborn of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), Lockhart of A Cure for Wellness (2016) and the title character in Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017).

DeHaan was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania. His father, Jeff DeHaan, is a computer programmer, and his mother, Cynthia Boscia, is an executive at Metlife. He has an older sister Meghann who the New York Times magazine describes as “a very normal and very supportive childhood”. He attended high school in Emmaus, Pennsylvania and appeared in the community theatre. After graduating from high school, he switched to the College of Arts at the University of North Carolina. So he was “for the first time around the artist”.

DeHaan staged in a short-lived American Buffalo revival on Broadway as Hayley Joel Osment’s lack of research. In 2008, he made his television debut and guest-starred in an episode of the Special Victims of Law and Order unit and made his debut in the 2010 feature film John Ames’ Amigo. He played Jesse in the third season of treatment and played Timbo in True Blood’s fourth season.


In 2012, De Haan starred in the drama film Chronicle of the Camcorder and Outlaw Cricket. In 2013, along with Daniel Radcliffe, he played Lucianchor, a contemporary of Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, in Kill Your Darlings. It was a role that received critical acclaim. He is a cover star for Hero Magazine No. 10, photographed by Hedis Limane and published in October 2013. In 2014, Annie Lebowitz shot De Haan for Prada’s clothing “Men’s Spring Advertising Campaign”. He also played Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Zach Dorfman in Life After Beth that year.

In 2015, De Haan starred as James Dean in the drama “Life”, and Robert Pattinson played against photographer Dennis Stock. In September 2015, DeHaan was the cover star for Another Man No. 20, filmed by Willy Vanderpere. DeHaan then performed romance in the 2016 independent drama film Lover and the Bear.

In 2017, De Haan starred in Luc Besson’s sci-fi movie “Valerian and the City of Thousand Planets”, starring Carla del Vinge based on the French comic series “Valérian” and “Laureline.” He also starred in the 17th Century Romance Tulip Fever.
