Ein Torii ist ein traditionelles japanisches Tor am häufigsten am Eingang oder innerhalb eines Shinto -Schreins, wo es den Übergang vom Profanen zum Heiligen symbolisch markiert.
Der Itsukushima -Schrein ist ein Shinto -Schrein -Tempel auf der Insel Itsukushima, das vor allem für sein “schwimmendes” Tori -Tor bekannt ist. Es befindet sich in der Stadt Hatsukaichi in der Präfektur Hiroshima in Japan. Der Komplex des Heiligtums ist ein UNESCO -Weltkulturerbe, und die japanische Regierung hat mehrere Gebäude und Besitztümer als nationale Schätze ausgewiesen.
