Design is a construction or activity specification or activity or the result of that plan in the form of a prototype, finished product or process. “Design” as a verb expresses the process of developing such a design. In some cases, the direct construction of an object without an explicit preliminary plan (for example, craft and design, coding and graphic design) is also considered as a design activity.

The same word is used for a broad discipline of creating a design that includes engineering and applied arts. Key design examples include architectural drawings, engineering drawings, business processes, wiring diagrams, and sewing patterns.

The person or organization that creates the design is a “designer,” which is also a term used for people who work professionally in one of the various design areas — usually defining which area works (for example, textile designer, fashion designer). Product designer, concept designer, web designer (website designer) or interior designer).

The sequence of the designer’s actions is called the design process, and design research is called design science. The design is often designed to achieve specific goals and limitations, and it is usually expected that it will interact with a particular environment. The design may take into account aesthetic, functional, economic or socio-political considerations. The design process can be short (quick sketches) or long and complicated, including significant research, negotiation, reflection, modelling, interactive customisation, and redesign.

The concept of a design cycle is understood as a circular structure of time, which can begin with the thinking of an idea, and then express it using visual or verbal means of communication (design tools), sharing and perceiving the expressed idea. And, finally, start a new cycle with a critical rethinking of the perceived idea.
