Detroit Pistons is an American professional basketball team based in Detroit, Michigan. Pistons compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Central Division of the League of the Eastern League and play its home games at the Little Caesar Arena.

The team was founded in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as as the Fort Wayne (Zollner) Pistons in 1941, a member of the National Basketball League (NBL), where it won two NBL championships: in 1944 and 1945 America (BAA) in 1948 become the NBA in 1949, while the pistons became part of the combined league. After moving to Detroit in 1957, the Pistons won three NBA championships: in 1989, 1990 and 2004.

On May 16, 2017, Pistons introduced a new logo, a modernized version of the previous “Bad Boys” era logo used from 1979 to 1996. The current team mascot is named Hooper.
