Douglas Costa de Souza, a Brazilian professional football player for Major League Soccer team LA Galaxy, was born on September 14, 1990. His dribbling prowess, speed, acceleration, and crossing ability are well-known.

Prior to joining Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2010 for a cost of ,6 million, Costa began his career with Grêmio. With Shakhtar, he amassed a number of titles, including a domestic triple in the 2010″11 campaign (Premier League, Ukrainian Cup, and Super Cup). He paid ,30 million to join Bayern in 2015, where he won two straight league championships. In 2017, he was loaned to Juventus, where he spent his first season and won a domestic double. He won another two straight league championships and a Supercoppa Italiana during his subsequent two seasons with the team after Juventus made his loan move permanent on June 7, 2018. Costa returned to Bayern Munich on loan on the final day of the summer 2020 transfer window.

Costa, a full international since 2014, represents Brazil in both the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2015 Copa América.

International Career

Costa made his debut for Brazil against Turkey in Istanbul in November 2014 after being selected for the first time by coach Dunga.

Costa was a member of Brazil’s 23-man roster for the 2015 Copa América in May of that year. He replaced Diego Tardelli in the team’s opening game, and in the ensuing stoppage time against Peru, he scored his first Seleço goal. He took the place of old Shakhtar teammate Willian for the final 30 minutes of a 1-1 tie in the quarterfinal matchup against Paraguay in Concepción, and he then missed in the penalty shootout that eliminated Brazil.

Costa scored his second goal for Brazil on November 17 in a 3-0 victory over Peru to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

When Costa suffered a left thigh injury in late May 2016, he was forced to withdraw from the Brazil team and was replaced by Kaká. Costa had originally been named to the team for the Copa América Centenario.

Gilmar Rinaldi, the Brazilian Football Confederation’s technical director at the time, declared on June 14, 2016, “shortly after he was fired,” that Bayern would permit Costa to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

He was included in Tite’s final 23-man roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia in May of that year.
