Catesby, Christopher Harington, also known as “Kit,” is an English actor. He studied at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and had his professional acting debut in the highly acclaimed West End drama War Horse at the National Theatre, playing Albert Narracott.
His breakout role as Jon Snow in HBO’s epic fantasy television series Game of Thrones (2011″2019) garnered him international acclaim and several awards, including a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actor ” Television Series Drama in 2019 and two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2016 and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2017.
The BBC drama series Gunpowder (2017), based on the leading role of his ancestor Robert Catesby in the Gunpowder plot, was developed, produced, and starring Harington. His film roles include Pompeii (2014), a historical romance, and Testament of Youth, a British period drama (2014). In the How to Train Your Dragon film series, he also played Eret.
In addition, Harington has been cast as Dane Whitman in the Marvel Cinematic Universe picture Eternals, which is set to hit theaters in November 2021. He is married to actress Rose Leslie and has a kid with them.
Deborah Jane (Catesby), a former writer, and Sir David Harington, 15th Baronet, a businessman, gave birth to Harington on December 26, 1986 in Acton, London. Christopher Catesby Harington is his full name, but his mother called him Christopher Marlowe, whose first name was abbreviated to Kit, which Harington likes. His entire name was not revealed to him until he was eleven years old.
Sir Nicholas John Harington, 14th Baronet was Harington’s uncle, and Sir Richard Harington, 12th Baronet was his patrilineal great-grandfather. The Haringtons are a long-established family whose name was originally written Haverington and comes from their estate, a lordship in Cumberland. Charles II of England was Harington’s eighth-great-grandfather through his paternal grandmother, Lavender Cecilia Denny. Harington is also a descendant of Scottish statesman Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville, through his father.
He is connected to persons who were involved in the Gunpowder Plot on opposing sides. On his mother’s side, he claims a relationship with the plot’s leader, Robert Catesby, while on his father’s side, he claims a relationship with King James I (grandfather of King Charles II), the target of the assassination attempt, and Lord Harington, who was in the Houses of Parliament when Catesby and his co-conspirators attempted to blow it up. His son, John Harington, saw the exhibited head of Catesby after his death when he was 13 years old and subsequently commented on it.
From 1992 until 1998, Harington attended Southfield Primary School. His family relocated to Worcestershire when he was 11 years old, and he attended Martley’s Chantry High School until 2003. After seeing a play of Waiting for Godot when he was 14, he became interested in acting and went on to appear in many school productions. He studied Drama and Theatre at Worcester Sixth Form College from 2003 to 2005. After watching Ben Whishaw’s performance as Hamlet in 2004 when he was 17, he was motivated to enroll in theatre school. Harington returned to London when he was eighteen years old after graduating from Sixth Form and went on to the Central School of Speech and Drama, where he graduated in 2008.
