Kristen Jaymes Stewart is an actor and filmmaker from the United States. She received a BAFTA Award, a César Award (making her the only American actress to earn the award), and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination in 2012, making her the highest-paid actress in the world.

Stewart was born and reared in Los Angeles to parents who both worked in the entertainment industry. At the age of 12, she was nominated for a Young Artist Award for her performance as the daughter of Jodie Foster’s character in David Fincher’s thriller Panic Room (2002). She went on to feature in films such as Speak (2004), Catch That Kid (2004), Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005), and Into the Wild (2006). (2007). She later gained to fame as Bella Swan in the Twilight Saga film series (2008″2012), which earned over $3.3 billion worldwide; she received the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2010 for her performance.

Stewart shunned roles in big-budget films in favor of indie movies in the years after appearing in the fairytale picture Snow White and the Huntsman (2012). She appeared in the 2014 plays Camp X-Ray and Still Alice, as well as the science fiction romance Equals (2016). She earned the César Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Olivier Assayas’ drama film Clouds of Sils Maria, which she received in 2015.

Stewart worked with Assayas again the following year in the spooky thriller Personal Shopper (2016), and in the short film Come Swim, she made her directing debut (2017). With starring parts in the action picture Charlie’s Angels (2019) and the romantic comedy film Happiest Season (2019), she returned to mainstream Hollywood (2020).

Kristen Jaymes Stewart was born in Los Angeles, California, on April 9, 1990, to parents who worked in the entertainment business. John Stewart, her American father, is a stage manager and television producer who has worked for Fox as well as on Comedy Central’s @midnight. Jules Mann-Stewart, her Australian mother, is a script supervisor who also directed the 2012 film K-11.

In 1953, Jules was adopted by Norma and Ben Urman, a Jewish couple from California; a DNA test revealed that one of Kristen’s biological maternal grandmothers was Ashkenazi Jewish. Stewart has two adoptive brothers, Dana and Taylor, as well as an elder brother, Cameron B. Stewart. After 27 years of marriage, her mother filed for divorce in 2012.

Stewart went to a local elementary school until he was in seventh grade. She maintained her schooling via distance till she graduated from high school as her interest in acting grew. Stewart was up in a family of non-actors who worked in the entertainment industry, so she always saw herself as a screenwriter or director, rather than an actor. She remembered, “I never wanted to be the center of attention”I wasn’t one of those kids who wanted to be famous or an actress. I never pursued acting, but I did spend a lot of time practicing my autograph since I enjoy writing with pens. I’d sign everything with my name.”

Stewart began acting at the age of eight, after an agent spotted her in a Christmas performance at her primary school. After a year of auditioning, she landed her first job in the Disney Channel television film The Thirteenth Year, in which she had a minor, nonspeaking role. Her second role was as the “ring toss girl” in The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas. She also played the tomboy daughter of a disturbed single mother in the indie film The Safety of Objects (2001). Her performance earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. Following the success of Panic Room, Stewart was cast as the daughter of Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone’s characters in Cold Creek Manor (2003). For her performance, she was nominated for a Young Artist Award once more. Because of her unpredictable schedule, she began homeschooling at this point in her career.

Stewart’s first leading part was in Catch That Kid (2004), a children’s action comedy starring Max Thieriot and Corbin Bleu, when he was 14 years old. Stewart also starred as Lila in the thriller Undertow that same year (2004). Stewart appeared in the Lifetime/Showtime television film Speak (2004), which was based on Laurie Halse Anderson’s novel of the same name. Stewart, who was 13 at the time of filming, portrayed Melinda Sordino, a high school student who is virtually speechless after being raped.

“Ms. Stewart crafts a compelling figure full of anguish and struggle,” The New York Times said about her portrayal. Stewart played Lisa Budwing, the reckless elder sister of two young boys, in the fantasy adventure film Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005). They transform their residence into a spaceship hurtling through space uncontrolled while playing a board game. Critics liked the picture, although Stewart’s performance received little recognition in the media. Her role remains motionless for the most of the movie. The following year, she appeared in Griffin Dunne’s film Fierce People (2006) as Maya. She went on to play Jess Solomon in the supernatural thriller film The Messengers after that.
