Lara Croft is a fictional character who stars in the Tomb Raider video game franchise. She is portrayed as a brilliant and athletic English archaeologist who travels the world exploring ancient tombs and dangerous ruins. The character initially appears in the computer game Tomb Raider in 1996, created by a team at British developer Core Design that includes Toby Gard.

Core Design was in charge of the character’s and series’ original development. Gard developed Lara Croft to be the antithesis of traditional female protagonists, drawing inspiration from powerful female figures. For later releases, the firm tweaked the character with graphics enhancements and gameplay changes. After the disappointing reception of Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness in 2003, American developer Crystal Dynamics took over the series. The character, as well as the video game franchise, was revived by the current developer. Her physical dimensions were changed, and she was given new methods to interact with game settings. Shelley Blond (1996), Judith Gibbins (1997″98), Jonell Elliott (1999″2003), Keeley Hawes (2006″14), Camilla Luddington (2013″present), and Abigail Stahlschmidt have all voiced Croft in the video game series (2015).

Lara Croft is shown as a fit lady with brown eyes and reddish-brown hair that she wears in a plait or ponytail most of the time. A turquoise leotard, light brown shorts, calf-high boots, and long white socks are the character’s traditional outfit. Fingerless gloves, a backpack, a utility belt with holsters on both sides, and two handguns are among the accessories. New clothes for diverse locations, such as underwater and freezing weather, were introduced in the video game sequels. Croft wears a crop top, camouflage trousers, and black or light brown shorts in subsequent games. She survived an aircraft accident when she was twenty-one, which left her trapped in the Himalayas for two weeks; the event inspired her to abandon her previous life and pursue new experiences across the world. Croft’s adventures as a mercenary, big-game hunter, and expert thief were documented in books and other literary works. After her father rejected her due to her lifestyle change, they gave her with a new source of money.

During the second period, Lara’s narrative was updated to reflect that she was the daughter of archaeologist Lord Richard Croft, Earl of Abingdon, and that she was rapidly recognized as a gifted young lady while attending the Abingdon Girls School. Lara was nine years old at the time of the plane disaster, and she was with her mother, Amelia Croft. Lara and her mother sought sanctuary in an ancient Nepalese temple while looking for safety, when Lara witnessed her mother vanish after messing with an antique sword. Later, her father vanishes in quest of his wife. This motivates Lara to investigate the circumstances surrounding her mother’s abduction.
