Madison Nicole Ziegler is an actor and dancer from the United States. She rose to fame after participating on Lifetime’s reality show Dance Moms from 2011 (when she was 8) until 2016. She rose to prominence in 2014 after featuring in a series of Sia music videos, beginning with “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart,” which have amassed over 5 billion views on YouTube. Ziegler has featured in a number of films, television series, concerts, commercials, and magazine covers. In 2015, 2016, and 2017, she was included to Time magazine’s “30 Most Influential Teens” list.

Ziegler was a judge on So You Think You Can Dancing: The Next Generation in 2016, toured with Sia in North America and Australia in 2016, and has done dance tours with her sister, Mackenzie, in 2017. The Maddie Diaries, her book, was a New York Times Best Seller in 2017.

She portrayed Camille Le Haut in the animated film Ballerina (2016), Christina Sickleman in The Book of Henry (2017), the title role in the film Music (2021), and Mia in the high school drama film The Fallout (2017). (2021). Her social media activity includes a more than 13 million-follower Instagram account.

Ziegler has received several awards at regional, state, and national dance competitions with Abby Lee Dance Company, including the 2014 Dancers Choice Award for Favorite Dancer 17 & Under. Ziegler appeared on Paula Abdul’s reality television show Live to Dance in 2010.

In 2013, Ziegler made guest appearances on Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, a spin-off show. Dance Moms aided Ziegler in becoming “one of the most well-known dancers in the entertainment industry right now,” encouraging “other dancers to pursue their goals with uniqueness and elegance.”

Ziegler has been in music videos for Alexx Calise, Sia, and Todrick Hall, among others. She rose to prominence at the age of 11 when she appeared in Sia’s 2014 video for “Chandelier,” which she was found on Dance Moms.

The video won the ARIA Music Award for Best Video and was nominated for Video of the Year and Best Choreography at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, winning the latter. In 2015, it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Music Video.

Ziegler has been three times on the Ellen DeGeneres Show with Sia by the end of 2015. She also sang “Chandelier” at the 2015 Grammy Awards with Sia and Kristen Wiig.
