Minions are yellow fictional creatures who first appeared in the Despicable Me franchise in Despicable Me 2. (2010). They are known for their childish demeanor and unusual vocabulary, which may be nearly incomprehensible at times. They are also the official mascots of Universal Pictures’ Illumination, which produces the movie. Following Comcast’s acquisition of NBCUniversal, they have been described as a corporate icon for Universal and Comcast, comparable to The Walt Disney Company’s Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, ViacomCBS’ SpongeBob SquarePants, and WarnerMedia’s Bugs Bunny and the Warner Siblings, though Woody Woodpecker is still considered a Universal Studios mascot.

Kevin, Stuart, and Bob are three of the most well-known minions from the movie Minions (2015). Many additional Minions are addressed by name in the franchise’s films and other media. They were designed by Eric Guillon, an art director who has worked on numerous Illumination films.

The Minions are tiny yellow creatures with capsulelike shapes. They were originally shown as being one-third to one-half the height of humans but subsequently discovered to be 3 feet 7 inches (1.1 m) tall. Their irises are nearly invariably brown, and they have one or two eyes (except for Bob, who has one green and one brown eye). Apart from the number of eyes, there appears to be no other distinction between the two kinds. They don’t have noses, although they appear to be able to smell because they are seen sniffing fruit and are impacted by the Fart Gun. They are also shown without ears but can hear and respond to sounds. The majority of the minions are bald or have a few wispy strands of black hair on their heads.

Their uniform has consisted of blue overalls with the Gru’s emblem imprinted on them, black rubber glovesshoes, and goggles since their arrival in America in the late 1960s. They primarily speak gibberish, which is partly derived from various languages such as French, English, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Spanish, and German, and is generally incomprehensible (to us). The English-sounding speech is dubbed differently for each nation, despite its apparent absurdity, in order to make the sounds more identifiable.

Dave (one of the first known minions in the franchise), Kevin, Stuart, Bob (the primary trio in Minions), and Mel are all popular English-language names (the leader of the Minions in Despicable Me 3). They are proven to have amazing technical talents, being able to design and construct spacecraft and playthings for Gru’s adoptive daughters, notably the youngest Agnes, while being rather absent-minded and having highly mischievous streaks.

Minions, a 2015 animated feature film, demonstrates that they have been there since the dawn of time. Minions are physiologically programmed to seek out and serve the most heinous of villains; without a “master,” they grow unhappy and listless. Kevin, Stuart, and Bob are also revealed to be invulnerable, as they survive a European torture chamber with no damage, even while toying with the torture instruments. The Minions are revealed to have an almost insatiable need for food, particularly bananas, in the 2010 short film “Banana.”
