Peace is not an absolute point of arrival, not a discrete state or lack of possession, but a sliding scale fluctuations in the peace. The symbol of peace was brought to the US by Bayard Rustin, civil rights protesters in the United States who participated in the Aldermaston march. Peace sign or symbol has been used in the United States for the first time later in the same year, when a pacifist protester, Albert Bigelow, sailed his small boat near the US nuclear test site of the planned displaying the CND banner. Later used to march for civil rights and appear in the demonstrations against the anti-Vietnam War.
