Turtwig, also known as Naetle in Japan, is a Generation IV grass-type Pokémon.

Starting at level 18, it evolves into Grotle, and starting from level 32, it transforms into Torterra.

Turtwig is one of three Sinnoh starter Pokémon that are initially playable in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl together with Chimchar and Piplup.

A little, light-green, quadrupedal Pokémon called Turtwig that resembles a turtle or tortoise. Its bottom jaw, feet, and eyes are all yellow. Its earthen-colored shell, which is brown, encases its whole body. The shell features a rim made of black and a broad black line.

The shell should feel wet on a Turtwig that is really healthy. On its head, a little seedling is growing on a brown spot. If the Pokémon becomes thirsty, this sapling will wilt. Since Turtwig is a plant-based Pokémon, it often feeds on photosynthesis. Water is also consumed by it, which hardens its soil-based shell. When Turtwig is exposed to adequate sunshine, it becomes more active.
