There are many reasons people buy digital projectors, one of the main ones being the cost per image area. The advantages of purchasing a projector are the large image size, but some limitations affect the quality of the image. The main things to compare are the resolution, the brightness, and the contrast ratio. There are many different types of projectors, and finding the right one is not always easy.

Home theatre/cinema projectors provide home entertainment, and they can be used for many purposes, including playing movies, DVDs, music, video games, etc. They typically use DLP (Digital Light Processing) to create high and smooth video performance, with little pixelation and high contrast rates.

LCD projectors provide more precise and sharper images than most of their counterparts. They create images by making the light shine through three small LCD panels, which are very vibrant and in sharp colors. LCD projectors can be used for home movies as well as presentations. Ideally, they should be used in dimly lit rooms to produce quality images.

Digital projectors allow the user to use video files on their PC and make viewing on the Internet very efficient. There are two types of projectors to choose from, DLP and LCD. When purchasing digital projectors, an essential factor to look for is the number of lumens. It is the number of different aspects of light available simultaneously.

Conference room projectors are mainly used for making presentations and reports in conference rooms mainly. They are used when high-resolution graphics are required. Ideal for medical presentations or with very detailed illustrations.

Portable multimedia projectors are very light for easy portability. These types of projectors are capable of producing noise-free presentations with fairly precise images.

When buying digital projectors, the primary key points to focus on are:

Resolution- refers to the projected images’ pixel density, the projectors have two resolutions, the natural resolution, and the maximum resolution. Natural resolution is the standard pixel size of the image. The full resolution is the maximum capacity of the projector. Digital projectors should accept resolutions of 800×600, 1024×768 or 1280×1024, but it is the natural resolution of the projector that is important. The higher the natural resolution of the projector, the higher the color density image.

Lumens– refers to the brightness of the image. Simply put, the higher the lumens, the brighter the projection. They are generally lower for home theatre models than for office models. The size of the screen will affect the number of lumens needed.
