Skittles is a brand of fruit-flavored candy, currently produced and sold by the Wrigley Company, a division of Mars, Inc.

Skittles candy consists of a hard sugar shell with the letter “S” printed on it. The interior consists mainly of sugar, corn syrup, hardened palm kernel oil, fruit juice, citric acid, natural and artificial flavors. Skittles was first marketed in 1974 by a British company. In 1979, it was first introduced to North America as an imported confectionery. In 1982, the domestic production of Skittles began in the United States.

Skittles are produced in a wide variety of flavors and colors, including sour varieties. Skittles releases a new flavor version on the Facebook page. Use a status like “Locking myself in the Rainbow kitchen until I see some results!” The 2011 post includes confirmation of a new flavor: “Bowling pins that create the final touch of a new flavor. Tweak the rainbow”.

In the United States, in 2013, Skittles replaced green apple with lime green apples, causing a backlash from some consumers. Lime was abolished in 2015 and then became part of the Orchards packets, which was abandoned in 2017, following the Orchards package.
