Star Wars: Battlefront is a first-person shooter video game based on the Star Wars films. Players assume the roles of troops in one of two competing armies set in various eras of the Star Wars universe.

LucasArts began the series in 2004 with Star Wars: Battlefront, which Pandemic Studios developed for LucasArts. The game garnered excellent feedback and was well-received. Star Wars: Battlefront II, released in 2005, was likewise a critical and economic triumph for Pandemic. Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron (2007) and Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron (2009) for portable consoles and Star Wars Battlefront: Mobile Squadrons for mobile devices, following the first two games.

LucasArts attempted to produce a third major Battlefront game on many occasions, but no projects were launched before The Walt Disney Company purchased LucasArts. Following that, EA DICE was granted permission to create a new game, Star Wars Battlefront, published on November 17, 2015. Star Wars Battlefront II, produced by EA DICE, Criterion Games, and Motive Studios, was released on November 17, 2017.

The Galactic Republic vs the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Galactic Empire versus the Rebel Alliance, or the First Order versus the Resistance ” are usually pitted against one other on various maps in the Battlefront series. Battlezones vary in theme and size, and maps are set in the Star Wars galaxy. Multiple “command posts” (objectives) dot the battlefield, acting as spawn sites that may be controlled by either the player or the computer. When vehicles are destroyed, they spawn at their respective command posts, and units can spawn from any friendly command post. Units can take control of neutral or hostile command stations by approaching them and standing within 30 seconds of them.

With more friendly troops in the capture zone, the time to capture accelerates. Because certain vehicles serve as mobile command posts, they must be destroyed rather than seized. Certain structures on some maps (such as Hoth or Endor) also serve as command stations that cannot be taken. Capturing command posts operates differently in different campaign tasks as well. Battles are significantly influenced by the presence of playable heroes and villains.

Most battles have the goal of removing all of the opponents’ reinforcement tickets or capturing the command locations, and gradually chipping away at their tickets. When a unit is killed or when one side controls the majority of the command posts on the map, reinforcement tickets are utilized (usually when the losing faction only has 2-3). There is just one goal to fulfill.

The team with no command posts has twenty seconds to retake or neutralize an enemy command post once all command posts have been taken. The contest is finished if the team fails to take over a post within this time limit. Certain story stages and multiplayer modes have different requirements than the rest of the game, although the overall framework stays the same. The game’s “Conquest” mode is loosely inspired on the same-named Battlefield game mode.
