The Lego Movie is a 2014 computer-animated film written and directed by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Chris McKay, Jorge Gutierrez, Charlie Bean, Paul Fisher, Mike Mitchell, and Bob Logan. Based on Lego’s line of building toys, its story focuses on the usual Lego mini-figure, which helps the resistance to prevent the tyrannical businessman from sticking everything in the Lego world to his vision of excellence. Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Liam Neeson, and Morgan Freeman cast their votes for the film’s main characters. The film was dedicated to Kathleen Fleming, Lego’s former entertainment development director, after her death in Cancun, Mexico, in April 2013.

The first film created by the Warner Animation Group, The Lego Movie, was released on February 7, 2014, by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film became a commercial success, earning worldwide $468 million against its $60 million budget, and received praise for animation, storytelling, writing, humor, and voice acting. The film was awarded the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film, Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Animated Film, America’s Producers Guild Award for Best Animated Film, and Saturn Award for Best Animated Film; it was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song, Everything Is Awesome.

Since then, the film has expanded to the main franchise associated with the Lego brand, with the continuation of the movie Lego Movie 2: Part Two, released in 2019. Additional films, The Lego Batman Movie and The Lego Ninjago Movie, were released in 2017. with another called The Billion Brick Race in development. A 4D film based on the film itself, entitled The Lego Movie: 4D – A New Adventure, was released in Legoland parks worldwide after its premiere in Legoland Florida in 2016.

In the Lego universe, populated by anthropomorphic minifigure, Lord Business steals a super-weapon called “Kragle” and blinds Vitruvius, the wizard who tried to stop the Business. He speaks of a mystical prophecy before he was apparently defeated by the Lord of Business, who kicks him into a lava lake.

Eight and a half years later, in the city of Brixburg under the rule of Business (called the “President of Business”), now the president of the huge mega-corporation Octan and the World itself, ordinary builder Emmett Brikowski notices a mysterious woman and falls underground, trying to confront the intruder. Emmett sees a mysterious figure and receives epileptic visions after touching it.
