Transformers is a 2007 American science fiction action movie based on the Transformers toy line. The film, which combines computer animation with live-action filming, was directed by Michael Bay, with Steven Spielberg as executive producer. Produced by Don Murphy and Tom Descente, it is the first instalment of the live-action Transformers movie series. In the movie, Shia LaBeouf is the two factions of a teenage Sam Witwicky involved in a war between heroic Autobots and the villainous Decepticons, and an alien robot that can transform into disguise and transform into simple machines, mainly vehicles. The Autobots intend to retrieve and use AllSpark, the object that created the robot race on Earth, to rebuild the home planet Cybertron and end the war. While the Decepticons, on the other hand, uses this to machine the Earth. Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Anderson, Megan Fox, Rachael Taylor, John Turturro, and Jon Voight star, while voice actors Peter Cullen and Hugo Weaving have appeared on Optimus Prime and Megatron, respectively.

Murphy and DeSanto developed the project in 2003, and DeSanto wrote the cure. The following year, Steven Spielberg hired Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman to write the script. The US Army and General Motors (GM) lent vehicles and aircraft during the shoot. This saves production costs and adds realism to the battle scene. The Hasbro movie promotion campaign involved dealings with various companies. The ads included viral marketing campaigns, prequel comic books, toys, coordinated release of books, product placement agreements with companies such as GM, Burger King, and eBay.

Transformers received mixed reviews from critics and positive responses from the audience. It was the highest-ever 28th highest-earning movie in history at its release and was the fifth-highest-earning movie in 2007 with $790 million in global sales. An estimated $46 million tickets have been sold. The film received four awards from the Visual Effects Society and was nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Visual Effects. The Empire praised Rabukh’s performance and fans well-received Karen’s retaliation for Optimus Prime from the 1980s television series. The movie was followed by four sequels, Revenge of the Fallen (2009), Dark of the Moon (2011), Age of Extinction (2014), and Last Knight (2017) and released in 2018.
