WALL-E is a computer-animated science fiction film released by Walt Disney Pictures in 2008, created by Pixar Animation Studios. Andrew Stanton directed and co-wrote the film, which was produced by Jim Morris and co-written by Jim Reardon. Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight, Jeff Garlin, John Ratzenberger, Kathy Najimy, and Sigourney Weaver provide their voices to the picture, which also features Fred Willard in the film’s (and Pixar’s) sole notable live-action role.

WALL-E is the studio’s eighth feature picture, and it depicts a lone robot on a future, inhospitable, desolate Earth who is left to clean up waste. However, he is visited by an Axiom probe, a robot named EVE, with whom he falls in love and chases throughout the galaxy.

Stanton thought Pixar had built credible simulations of aquatic physics after filming Finding Nemo, and that he was willing to make a picture set primarily in space. In the early parts of WALL-E, there is very little speaking; many of the characters don’t have voices and instead communicate through body language and robotic sounds created by Burtt.

Consumerism, corporatocracy, nostalgia, waste management, human environmental effect and concerns, obesity, and global catastrophic risk are all discussed in the film. It’s also Pixar’s first animated picture containing live-action character sequences. WALL-E was released in theaters alongside a short film called Presto, in keeping with Pixar tradition.

On June 27, 2008, WALL-E was released in the United States. The animation, screenplay, voice acting, characters, aesthetics, soundtrack, usage of limited conversation, and romantic sequences all received positive reviews. It was also a financial triumph, generating $521.3 million worldwide on a budget of $180 million. It received five nominations and won five awards, including the 2008 Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, the 2009 Hugo Award for Best Long Form Dramatic Presentation, the final Nebula Award for Best Script, the Saturn Award for Best Animated Film, and the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

Many critics believe it to be the finest picture of 2008. The film was ranked 29th among 100 films deemed the finest of the twenty-first century by 117 film critics from across the world in 2016, and it topped Time’s list of the “Best Movies of the Decade.”

In the 29th century, unbridled materialism, corporate greed, and environmental carelessness have left planet Earth into a garbage-strewn wasteland; mankind has vanished, having been evacuated seven millennia previously aboard enormous starliners by the megacorporation Buy-n-Large (BnL).

WALL-E is smitten by the sleek, otherworldly robot, and the two begin to bond until WALL-E reveals her his most recent find: a living seedling, which causes EVE to go into standby mode. The probe then gathers EVE and the plant before returning to its mothership, the starliner Axiom, with WALL-E clinging on.
