Fact: The Phoenix Suns have the seventh-highest all-time NBA regular season win-loss record percentage (..535) among all current NBA teams.

The franchise began playing in 1968 as an expansion team, and their early years were shrouded in mediocrity, but their success changed in the 1970s when, after a partnership with longtime guard Dick Van Arsdale and center Alvan Adams with Paul Westphal, the 1976 NBA finals reached Suns in what is considered one of the biggest upsets in NBA history. However, after failing to win the championship, Suns was recovering around Walter Davis during most of the 1980s, before Kevin Johnson’s acquisition in 1988.

With Johnson and after the exchange for permanent All-Star NBA Charles Barkley and in conjunction with the production of Tom Chambers and Dan Majerle, the Suns reached the playoffs a record thirteen consecutive matches and remained a constant contender for the title in the 1990s and reached the NBA finals in 1993 However, the team again failed to win the championship and entered a new period of mediocrity until the early 2000s.

In 2004, the Suns acquired Steve Nash again and immediately returned to the playoffs. With Nash alongside Shawn Marion and Amar’e Stoudemire, as well as the leadership of coach Mike D’Antoni, The Suns became renowned worldwide for their quick, dynamic offense, which made them tie to the franchise record to victories in the 2004-2005 season. The conference had two more top positions, but the Suns could not regain the NBA championship and were forced to recover again.

The Suns ranks seventh among the best in the history of the NBA and is one of two teams with a higher percentage of losses for all time who have never won the NBA championship.
