Allen Neal Jones (born June 2, 1977) is an American professional wrestler presently contracted to WWE, where he competes under the ring name AJ Styles (also styled as A.J. Styles) on the Raw brand, and is one half of the current WWE Raw Tag Team Champions alongside Omos. From 2002 to 2014, he was a member of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA, now known as Impact Wrestling) and from 2014 to 2016, he was a member of New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW).

He made his professional wrestling debut in 1998 and fought for a number of independent organisations until signing with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 2001. After signing with TNA, Styles became well-known, with the organisation describing him as “the cornerstone of the company since conception.” He won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship twice, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship three times, and the X Division Championship six times. He is also the first man to win the TNA Triple Crown and Grand Slam. Styles competed in Ring of Honor (ROH) from 2002 to 2006, winning the ROH Pure Championship for the first time, and in NJPW from 2014 to 2016, winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship twice.

In 2002, Styles made his debut in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE), although he turned down a developmental deal. Styles returned to the organisation in 2016 and won the WWE Championship twice, becoming him the first wrestler to capture the title outside of North America with his second triumph in Manchester. This is the eighth-longest reign in championship history, at 371 days. He also won the United States Championship three times, the Intercontinental Championship once, and the Raw Tag Team Championship once, making him the second wrestler (after Kurt Angle) to win both the TNA/Impact, WWE Triple Crowns, and WWE Grand Slams.

Styles, who has long been regarded as one of the finest professional wrestlers in the world, has headlined a number of pay-per-view events, including WWE and TNA’s respective flagship events, WrestleMania and Bound for Glory. He was the first TNA wrestler to finish first in the annual Pro Wrestling Illustrated 500 in 2010, and he was named PWI Wrestler of the Year three times between 2016 and 2018 and Wrestler of the Decade in 2020. Styles was also inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame in 2017 after winning eleven accolades, including Wrestler of the Year in 2015 and 2016.

Allen Neal Jones was born on June 2, 1977, at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He grew up in poverty with an alcoholic father who was abusive. Jones was unable to watch professional wrestling, his boyhood love, due to the family’s poverty, which prevented them from purchasing cable television. He went to Johnson High School in Gainesville, Georgia, and graduated in 1996. Jones dropped out of Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina, where he was on a wrestling scholarship, to pursue a career in the sport. After seeing his buddies do it, he enrolled in a professional wrestling school to see whether he had a natural talent for it. He worked cutting lawns and drove an ambulance to augment his income.
