Caleb McLaughlin was born on October 13, 2001 in Carmel, New York, USA, to April and Corey McLaughlin Sr. He has two sisters named Caitlyn and Crystal and a brother named Corey McLaughlin Jr., McLaughlin studied at Kent Primary School, and then went to George Fischer Middle School. After finishing fifth grade, he moved to the New York City.

The actor then attends Happy Feet Dance School for one year. He later studied dance from The Harlem School of the Arts. During his time at The Harlem School, McLaughlin was trained under Aubrey Lynch.
