Final Fantasy, also known as Final Fantasy I or the Original Final Fantasy in collections and common languages, is a role-playing game developed and published by Square Co., Ltd. for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was released in 1987 and the inaugural game in Square’s flagship Final Fantasy game series.

In 1987, Square was on the verge of total and complete failure, bankruptcy from a slew of failed games. It was then that they decided to throw everything it had into one last desperate attempt, aptly titled Final Fantasy. The game was a monstrous success, using the most advanced technology, to say the first of many epic tales in the newly minted Japanese RPG format.

Final Fantasy VI was released in the US as Final Fantasy III proved to be a kick in the pants that many American players are needed to truly fall in love with the series. Even now, it is considered by many as the best of the series.

Final Fantasy 15 release date has been confirmed as of September 30, 2016. It will be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Despite the fact that there was no official announcement of the PC version, references to Steam and Windows 10 versions have been found.
