With Johnson and after the exchange for permanent All-Star NBA Charles Barkley and in conjunction with the production of Tom Chambers and Dan Majerle, the Suns reached the playoffs a record thirteen consecutive matches and remained a constant contender for the title in the 1990s and reached the NBA finals in 1993 However, the team again failed to win the championship and entered a new period of mediocrity until the early 2000s.

In 2004, the Suns acquired Steve Nash again and immediately returned to the playoffs. With Nash alongside Shawn Marion and Amar’e Stoudemire, as well as the leadership of coach Mike D’Antoni, The Suns became renowned worldwide for their quick, dynamic offense, which made them tie to the franchise record to victories in the 2004-2005 season.
