Skyscrapers hold a fascination across all peoples and cultures. The tallest skyscrapers are the modern incarnation of this symbol.
A common feature of skyscrapers is a steel framework that supports curtain walls. These curtain walls either lean on the framework below, are suspended from the framework above, rather than lean on the load-bearing walls of conventional construction. Some early skyscrapers have a steel frame that allows the erection of bearing walls higher than reinforced concrete.
The walls of modern skyscrapers are not load-bearing, and most of the skyscrapers are characterized by large window surfaces, which are possible through steel frames and curtain walls. However, skyscrapers may have curtain walls that mimic ordinary walls with a small window area. Modern skyscrapers often have a tubular structure and are designed to work as hollow cylinders to withstand wind, seismic and other lateral loads. So that they look smoother, allow less exposure to wind and transmit more daylight to the earth, many skyscrapers have a design with faults that are sometimes required and structured.

Burj Khalifa, known as Burj Dubai before its opening in 2010, is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. With a total height of 829.8 meters (2,722 feet) and a roof height (excluding antenna) of 828 meters (2,717 feet), Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world since 2009.
