Gases are volatile forms of matter present on the Earth. When cooled, they turn into liquids, and then into solid particles due to loss of heat. Gases are the main cause of life on Earth. Oxygen is a gas that helps to generate energy for the body. On the other hand, carbon dioxide is useful in the formation of food through photosynthesis.
Similarly, nitrogen from the air is converted to ammonia, which acts as manure for plants in the soil.
These gases have different types like natural, artificial and even manufactured ones. But they differ in chemistry, properties and uses. In principle, there are two types of gases: natural gas and artificial gas.
Natural gases are present spontaneously in nature. These include simple gases that are easily accessible in the air. Although man-made gases are produced by man from certain chemical reactions. These gases are present even before the life of the Earth. Therefore, they do not harm nature, and their concentration in the air is not severely a lot.
Artificial gases are those that are synthesized by chemical reactions. They are made of many elements and these artificial gases include chlorofluorocarbons, anesthetics, sterilizing agents and others. They are obtained by synthetic means for human use.
They are designed for the special needs of people, but do not benefit the nature. In turn, some of them are harmful to nature. Chlorofluorocarbons used in refrigerators cause ozone layer damage. This ozone layer protects us from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun’s rays to reach the earth. Consequently, their use in refrigerators is discontinued.
