A school is a type of educational institution that provides learning spaces and conditions for students to learn in under the supervision of instructors. Most countries have formal education systems, which are occasionally mandatory. Students move through a sequence of schools under these systems. The titles of these schools differ by nation (see the section below on regional terminology), but they typically include primary school for young children and secondary school for teens who have finished primary school. A university college or university is a college or university that teaches higher education.
Students in a particular nation may also attend schools before and after primary (elementary in the United States) and secondary (middle school in the United States) education. Very young children (usually ages 3″5) are educated in kindergarten or preschool. After secondary school, you may be eligible to attend a university, vocational school, college, or seminary. A school may specialize on one discipline, such as economics or dance. Alternative schools may use unorthodox teaching techniques and curricula.
When the government fails to provide a child’s educational needs, non-government schools, sometimes known as private schools, may be necessary. Other private schools can be religious, such as Christian schools, gurukula (Hindu schools), madrasa (Arabic schools), hawzas (Shi’i Muslim schools), yeshivas (Jewish schools), and others; or schools that have a higher standard of education or seek to foster other personal achievements, such as Christian schools, gurukula (Hindu schools), madrasa (Arabic schools), hawzas (Shi’i Muslim schools), yeshiva Adult schools include corporate training institutes, military education and training, and business schools.
School critics frequently charge that schools fail to adequately prepare students for their future lives, that they encourage certain temperaments while inhibiting others, that they prescribe students exactly what to do, how, when, where, and with whom, suppressing creativity, and that they use extrinsic measures such as grades and homework to suppress children’s natural curiosity and desire to learn.
Teaching and learning take happen outside of a typical school building or in a virtual school outside of a traditional school building in homeschooling and distance education, respectively. Schools are arranged in a variety of ways.
