Emma Rose Roberts is an actress and singer from the United States. Roberts rose to prominence as Addie Singer on the Nickelodeon television teen sitcom Unfabulous (2004″2007) after making her cinematic debut in the crime picture Blow (2001). In 2005, she released her first soundtrack CD for the series, Unfabulous and More. Roberts went on to star in films such as Aquamarine (2006), Nancy Drew (2007), Wild Child (2008), Hotel for Dogs (2009), Valentine’s Day (2010), It’s Kind of a Funny Story (2010), The Art of Getting By (2011), and We’re The Millers (2011). (2013).
Roberts starred in the films Lymelife (2008), 4.3.2.1. (2010), Scream 4 (2011), Adult World (2013), We’re the Millers (2013), Palo Alto (2013), The Blackcoat’s Daughter (2015), Nerve (2016), Who We Are Now (2017), Paradise Hills (2019), and Holidate (2019) in search of more adult parts (2020). Roberts rose to prominence after appearing in numerous seasons of the FX anthology horror series American Horror Story (2013″present) and in the Fox comedic horror series Scream Queens (2015″2016) as Chanel Oberlin.
Roberts made her acting debut at the age of nine in Ted Demme’s drama picture Blow, released in 2001. It was her first time auditioning for a film. She played Kristina Jung, Johnny Depp’s character’s daughter, in the film (cocaine smuggler George Jung). In the same year, she appeared in Leif Tilden’s 10-minute short bigLove and was an uncredited extra in certain moments in America’s Sweethearts starring her aunt Julia Roberts.
Roberts went on to play the kidnapped daughter of former secret agent Mike Muggins (Chris Potter), who tries to rescue her with the help of a spy monkey, in two family films: in 2002’s Grand Champion, as the sister of the main character Buddy (Jacob Fisher); and in 2006’s Spymate, as the kidnapped daughter of former secret agent Mike Muggins (Chris Potter). Grand Champion had a limited theatrical release in August 2004, while Spymate did not get a theatrical release until February 2006 in Canada, followed by a DVD release in April 2006.
In September of that year, she began appearing as Addie Singer in the Nickelodeon sitcom Unfabulous, which premiered in September. Roberts was nominated for a Teen Choice Award and a Young Artist Award for the sitcom. Addie, a seventh-grader, and her two best friends were the core of the series. It ran for three seasons, from 2004 to 2007. The Perfect Moment is one of the TV movies based on the program.
In 2004, Roberts appeared as a guest star in “Honor Council,” a Nickelodeon episode of Drake & Josh. Nickelodeon has considering giving Roberts a boost into a music career after her tenure on Unfabulous. Unfabulous and More, Roberts’ debut album, was published in 2005. Columbia Records and Nick Records published the album on September 27, 2005. It was also used as the soundtrack for the television show Unfabulous, which Roberts starred in. On Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums and Kid Albums lists, the album reached number 46 and 10, respectively.
Two singles from the album were released in September 2005: “I Wanna Be” and “Dummy.” The album features several original songs (including “Dummy” and “I Wanna Be,” both of which were also released as music videos, “I Have Arrived,” and “This Is Me,” which was co-written by Roberts), as well as some of Addie’s songs from the first season, including “Punch Rocker” and “New Shoes” (both from the episode “The Party”), “94 Weeks (Metal Mouth Freak)” (from “The Bar Mitzvah Roberts recorded “If I Had It My Way” for the soundtrack of the 2005 Disney film Ice Princess the same year. Roberts sang Weezer’s 2001 song “Island in the Sun” in 2006 for the Aquamarine album, in which she also featured as one of the main characters.
Roberts also returned to the big screen in 2006, appearing in Aquamarine opposite Sara Paxton and singer JoJo. Her performance in the film earned her a Young Artist Award for Best Supporting Young Actress in a Feature Film in 2007. Aquamarine debuted in fifth place at the box office, grossing $8 million in its first weekend. Roberts concluded filming her title role in Nancy Drew in early 2006. The film was released in theaters on June 15, 2007, and made more over $7 million in its first weekend, despite critical acclaim. In 2007, Roberts was supposed to work on both Rodeo Gal and a Nancy Drew sequel with Nancy Drew director Andrew Fleming, but both projects were never realized.
