Barricade tape is a brightly colored tape (typically with a two-tone pattern of alternating yellow-black or red-white stripes or the words “Caution” or “Danger” in bold letters) intended to warn or draw the attention of pedestrians to a place or situation involving a potential hazard. It works as a modest obstacle to prevent unintentional entry into that place or circumstance, hence improving overall safety. Barricade tape is also known as construction tape, barrier tape, or caution tape, warning tape, danger tape, or hazard tape, depending on the safety hazard involved. The tape is known as police tape when it is employed by a police force.

The tape is frequently wrapped and affixed as a visual warning sign and demarcation, such as when entering a dangerous area, such as an industrial or commercial construction site, a roadworks construction site, or the scene of an accident or a crime (for crime scene preservation), or when handling inoperative machinery or appliances.

Barricade tape is constructed of plastic materials that are strong, tough, and tear-resistant, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, or nylon. Barricade tape comes in a variety of widths and thicknesses, depending on the manufacturer. Barricade tape frequently has a bright backdrop and prominent warning wording pre-printed on it. It’s also feasible to buy simple barrier tape and personalize it with a message. When using custom tape, however, caution should be exercised because barricade tape designs may be required to comply with regulations in the United States, such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) (when used for purposes regulated by these organizations).

This is used in construction zones to alert people to the fact that work is occurring and that there may be risks within the delineated area. Construction tape is commonly yellow and black in color, with printed wording such as “Under Construction,” “Caution,” “Work Zone,” and “Keep Out” (among others). Renovations, demolition, and minor repairs are all popular uses for this sort of barrier tape.

This is used in areas when there is a significant threat. Hazards such as electrocution or regions where dangerous substances may be present are two examples.
